The Holidays!!!

With Thanksgiving just two weeks away, I went to Costco today and they had all of their Christmas decorations and food and gifts out and I started getting so excited about the holidays!!! I LOVE this time of year and I love being with our families and all of our traditions. As Dave will attest, I break out the Christmas music WAY too early! I am so excited for this year as David is a little older and I am planning all of these fun holiday memories to make together like making gingerbread houses, baking Christmas cookies, driving around looking at Christmas lights, cutting down a Christmas tree, singing Christmas carols, Christmas parties, doing Christmas and Thanksgiving crafts, acting out the nativity story(something we loved doing as kids growing up), and so many more...can you tell I'm getting excited!?! Growing up we had so many fun traditions that we are trying to continue with our children.

We are trying to teach David about Thanksgiving (not sure how much he's actually getting... :)), and each day I am asking him what he is thankful for and we're writing it down on a thankful chain (one of his crafts). Today, he said he is thankful for Mommy and Daddy and Owen and his new underwear and his sippy cup (guess I feel special to be included in THAT list). I can't wait to find out what he's thankful for tomorrow!

As I was thinking about all of our special traditions and yummy Thanksgiving and Christmas recipes, I thought it would be fun to ask all of you what your favorite Thanksgiving recipe or dish is and what your favorite tradition is, and what you are thankful for...
Merry, Merry!!!

Cutting down our tree and decorating the tree and putting out all the decorations with cookies and egg nog. Reading Papa Panov on Christmas eve, our big Christmas feast and watching Christmas movies, especially "It's a Wonderful Life."

One of my favorite recipes for the holidays is our chocolate cheese pie with plenty of whip cream on top, but the best thing is the turkey that PopPop grills with charcoal and hickory. Yummy!! Can't forget the sweet potato casserole with marshmellows toasted on top. No matter what we eat this time of year, it is the most wonderful time of the year and we have so many special memories and they just get better and better. Now that we have Davey and Owen to share them with all of us! Love, Mimi
