Owen Daniel Johnston

Owen Daniel has arrived! Our precious boy was born on Thursday, June 26 at 3:27 AM after Sarah's water broke Thursday afternoon. He is 7 pounds, 9 ounces and 21 1/2" long. He has a lot of dark hair and looks a lot like David did when he was born. There are some differences and it will be so much fun to see Owen grow and change and to find out what his personality will be like! So far, he is a very pleasant baby who eats and sleeps well and we are enjoying every second with him.

David came yesterday to meet him and was so sweet and gentle. He came up on the bed beside Mommy and Owen and gave Owen a kiss and touched his hair and was saying "Hi Owen! Hi baby Owen! Owen Daniel!" It was really cute to see and we look forward to coming home and seeing him interact with Owen even more.

Thanks to everyone who prayed and are praying for us and for all the visits and gifts and for celebrating this precious gift with us!!! We are so thankful for all of you.

We'll be posting pictures when we come home from the hospital.

Love,
Dave, Sarah, David and Owen

Day Out With Thomas the Train!

After getting permission from my doctor to make the trip to Strasburg, PA, we were able, for the second year in a row, to visit Thomas the train! This year because David was older, we took the train ride and it was like a dream come true for David! He couldn't believe that he was getting to ride on the "real" Thomas the train!!! He loves to play with his trains at home and what fun we had watching him enjoy all the activities. It was a fun (tiring) family day and we were so glad we were able to go again this year. Hopefully, we can make it a yearly family tradition.

Rainbows and Promises

Last week we had a beautiful and amazing full rainbow right in back of our home, followed by a double rainbow. It made me think of the promise that God made Noah and every time I see a rainbow, I'm reminded of God's unending mercy and grace towards me and my family.

Thank you Lord for your faithful and true promise to us!

Great Quote

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus.
Look full in His wonderful face.
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Update

Whew! What a busy and fun few weeks we've had! First, baby Owen will be coming on June 30th unless I go into labor sooner. We are ready for him and we can't wait to meet him and hold him. Please pray that he is born healthy and that he turns his face around from the posterior position. Two more weeks!!!

We had a wonderful time a couple of weeks ago at Nathan VanBerkom's 1st birthday. All the kids played outside in a little kids pool and it was so funny watching all the little boys have such a blast...it really is a blessing that David has so many little friends his age.

I've been taking David to the pool or playing in our back yard with his little kids pool and it's been so nice to be in cool water in the heat that we've been having! David LOVES it and we get to meet up with Ethan and Nathan at our pool and it's fun to see the boys playing together.

David has also been enjoying being with his friend, Isaac. They love each other and play so well together! We love our friends, the Jacksons, and are grateful that David has such a special friend in Isaac.

David took his first "field trip" this past Wednesday to the Middletown fire station with all of his little friends. The firefighters were so kind and patient and did a great job of teaching fire safety and showing the kids the trucks. David was able to pretend to drive a real fire truck and climb around in it...which was like a dream come true for him! :) He also got to turn on and hold the fire hose too. He had a great time and we all had lunch together afterwards while the kids played together. I am so grateful for our community of friends here. Having so many moms and kids so close is so wonderful.

This past weekend, we had a care group BBQ and it was an absolute blast! Dave did an outstanding job as grill chef :) and David and Jake and Isaac played outside and in the pool. We enjoyed fun and fellowship and after the kids went to bed, stayed up late playing games. It was such a wonderful time being with our dear friends and we were glad we were able to do this before Owen comes. :)

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads! Dave was able to see his Dad, my Dad, and his grandfather and David enjoyed the visits too. Happy Father's Day, love! You are a wonderful, wise, selfless, fun, loving, compassionate, godly Dad! I love you.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get around to posting some pictures of the last couple of weeks soon. There are some great ones. Have a wonderful and blessed week!
