O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree!

In the Johnston household, the Christmas season is in full swing! It's a tradition for us to cut down our Christmas tree, so on Friday we went with my family to find our tree and came back for pizza and games. Today, we decorated our tree. We put all of our decorations out and had the Christmas music going, and I cooked a special breakfast with my personal favorite, cinnamon rolls! Yum! It's been really fun to see David take it all in this year. He's old enough now that he's really enjoying all of the celebrations and festivities.

David especially loved being at the Christmas tree farm and running through the trees with his Daddy. We were determined not to get a huge tree as in years past (our trees have filled up half of our living room!) and we found the perfect tree! Dave chopped it down with David "helping" of course. We went back to the Christmas shop to buy our annual ornament and David even got to meet Santa! Santa gave David a special candy cane and we got hot apple cider and bought our special ornament. It was Owen's first time and he was all bundled up and adorable. It was a wonderful time together.

Today, we decorated our tree and David was so cute picking out his ornaments and putting them on the tree. We then put the manger scene out and Dave read David the Christmas story and then we let David put out the baby Jesus. David took his job very seriously and was concentrating very hard. It was so cute. Little Owey was just taking it all in. David has been so sweet and loving with him lately. He just goes up to Owen and kisses him and says, "I love you Owey." all the time. It warms my heart to see the love he has for his little brother and Owen's eyes just light up when he sees David. I'm thankful that they have each other.
It's been so wonderful just being together as a family these past few days. We love it when Dave is home with us. We all miss him each day when he's gone to work and it's always a celebration when he gets home. To be able to have him home for four days is such a treat!

Tomorrow, we found a beautiful scenic outlook nearby, so weather permitting, I plan to take my tripod and camera and get some family shots.
