St. John - Day 1

Dave and I are back after an absolutely FANTASTIC week away together. It was relaxing and fun and wonderful to be together...just the two of us. Our two boys had a great time at both grandparents and I know the grandparents are tired! :)
St. John was paradise. Absolutely breathtaking. Everywhere we went, it was hard to believe it was so beautiful. We had wonderful weather with just one very brief rain shower (5 minutes!). More than 2/3 of St. John is national park and completely undeveloped and it's a very quiet little island which is soo nice. Just one little town! Our resort was also amazing!!! The grounds and pool were spectacular. We would've been happy if we just stayed there the entire time!
St. John is very mountainous and the roads are CRAZY! The steepest, most winding roads I've ever seen! They drive on the opposite side of the road, so that was fun to get used to. We rented a jeep (only 4 wheel drive vehicles on this island!) which Dave LOVED driving. It was scary, though...the road was always on the edge of a cliff!

On our first day, we went to Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay. We went snorkeling off little cays that are just off the beaches. The marine life was so amazing! We saw fish of every color, sting rays, sea turtles, a shark (!), starfish, beautiful coral and all sorts of sea creatures. We really enjoyed all the snorkeling we did...amazing! The beaches were soft, white sand with crystal clear water. We went to an italian restaurant, recommended to us by a friend that was open air and had a beautiful view.

Mmmm...rum punch!
