The Blizzard - Day 2

Yesterday, we had a blast playing in the snow again! We were sad that Mimi had to leave, but we made a lot of special memories together. David and Owen both loved playing in the snow and went out several times during the day. (With hot chocolate waiting for them of course!)

Later in the evening, we had our friends the Jackson family over for some Christmas merriment. It was so wonderful to spend the evening with them and David and Owen loved playing with their friends, Isaac and Abby.

We are looking forward to Christmas Eve and Christmas and all the celebrations!

The Blizzard!!! Day 1

We have been loving all the snow! One of the biggest snowfalls we've ever had! Yesterday, we had a blast playing in the snow. Owen didn't like not being able to move around as much because he was so bundled up. It was very comical to watch him trying to get around. :) David was so excited he woke up and rushed into our room proclaiming, "It's snowing, it's snowing!!!" He could not WAIT to get outside to play. My mom came on Friday to get snowed in with us and the boys had a blast playing with Mimi too.

Last night we had all of our neighbor friends over for a party! They all somehow made it and we had fun staying up in the early morning hours laughing and playing games and enjoying yummy food. What a great day!

Today, we have been enjoying another great day in the snow, digging out of our house. Pictures and another blog post from today to come.

A white Christmastime! What a treat!

Owen unsure of what to think...

The snow was coming down so fast all day!

Inside for some homemade hot cocoa!! Yummy.

Owen has discovered he loves hot cocoa too. He was walking around asking for "hot chocky, hot chocky," all day. :)

Let It Snow!

We are eagerly anticipating what could be a huge snowfall for our area tonight and tomorrow! What a Christmas treat! And, Dave will be home to enjoy it with us.

We had a very fun day today, with the 2nd annual playgroup where we all baked Christmas cookies together. All the kids had a blast and we all went home with some very yummy cookies. Mmm.

David is recovering very well from his surgery and seems completely back to normal! We were able to see our baby boy (still without a name) yesterday and even got a 3-D picture. He is doing well! The best news we could get.

We have all sorts of special treats to enjoy tomorrow and David can't wait to go outside to play in the snow! I don't know what Owen will think of it...I guess we'll find out! :)

Recovering

David is recovering from surgery. Everything went very well and so far, no complications. Everyone was saying what a complete sweetheart he was. He was so sweet and brave. It was sooo hard for me to see him wheeled away (although he was fine and very out of it from the meds), but soon enough I was by his side as he was waking up. He is very groggy and in a little pain, but doing well. Here he is trying out a popsicle...

Surgery

My poor baby has to have surgery tomorrow for his ears. I am really not looking forward to it...this will probably be harder for me than for him! It is a simple surgery and everything should go well. I just feel so bad for the poor little guy. He is my little sweetheart, always telling me how much he loves me. Tonight before bed as I was tucking him in he said, "I love you so, so, so much, Mommy." about 5 times.

Hopefully, this will help him not have to suffer through anymore terrible ear infections!!!

Tis the season for...Being busy!

We are enjoying the Christmas season and all the festivities and fun memories to be made. Right now, I am getting ready for our annual cg Christmas party and baking cookies for the cookie exchange...pictures to follow of course! :) And...trying to get our Christmas cards mailed out! It's always a week-long process. :) I'm really looking forward to spending time with our friends tonight.

Tomorrow night is the annual CFC Christmas Concert and we are all looking forward to hearing some wonderful Christmas music! We are driving up to PA again on Sunday to spend the evening with dear friends, the Culley family. We are so grateful for all of our friends and family!

David is finally getting his ear tubes surgery on Wednesday, so I am praying it all goes smoothly and he doesn't have any bad reaction to the anesthesia. He is enjoying his preschool and LOVING everything about Christmas. I don't know what our boys will do when life goes back to normal! :)

We have our next ultrasound this week as well and we're looking forward to seeing our baby boy again.

(We are watching UP while baking cookies and I still cry every time I see it! SO sweet. )

I hope you all enjoying the season in the midst of the busyness! I am grateful for the evening when we as a family reflect on our Savior's birth. What wonder and mystery and love!

New Tradition: Advent

This Christmas, we began a new tradition using and Advent calendar. We have a little Advent village with little window boxes for each day of December until Christmas Day. Each day the boys will open a door to find little treats inside. While enjoying their treats, Dave (or me if Dave isn't home) will read a Scripture passage relating to Jesus' birth and read from one of David's children's Bibles about the Nativity too. Today, December 1, was our first day. David was so excited to open the little door to find what awaited him inside. Both David and Owen enjoyed their treats and we all enjoyed reading the passage of Scripture together.

We have been wanting to do something like this for a couple of years now, and I found the advent village for a great deal at Costco!!! We are looking for ways to teach David and Owen about Jesus' birth and this is such a fun way to do it! It also builds excitement for Christmas Day. I am looking forward to each day and meditating on the amazing wonder of our Savior's birth as a family!
